LEKA System Roof Breakdown

Step 1 – LEKA GRP Rafters

First, ‘Glass Reinforced Plastic’ rafters are added to your existing, or new conservatory window frames, including a GRP structural ring beam, ridge and wall plate. GRP has a higher tensile strength than steel and is not prone to:

  • Wood worm or rot (such as timber)
  • Moisture absorption & expansion (such as timber)
  • Condensation (such as aluminium or steel)
  • Thermal bridging (such as aluminium or steel)

Step 2 – LEKA Internal Boards

Next, internal Leka sheets are added underneath the GRP rafters. The LEKA sheets are 100% waterproof and one third the weight of plasterboard.

These sheets have unique thermal qualities as well, but allow for a traditional plaster skim finish to provide a nice visual aspect ready for painting afterwards.

For a more traditional cost effective finish, standard 12.5mm plasterboards or the LEKA Ecotech lightweight insulated plasterboards can also be utilised as part of the LEKA ECO range.

Step 3 – PIR Insulation

PIR high-grade insulation sheets are snugly fitted with a 15mm gap from the internal LEKA sheets. PIR is one of the UK’s leading insulation products, providing high value thermal efficiency and most insulation is BBA approved. This product is an added orangery roof insulation benefit that increases the roofs efficiency level.

ECO options of LEKA roofs are provided with EPS polystyrene. Please check with your installation company prior to purchase, to discuss your options.

Step 4 – LEKA External Boards

Next, strong, load-bearing and insulated outer sheets are added. These ensure less roofing bars and higher efficiency.

The LEKA external boards have been engineered to offer:

  1. structural alternative to plywood or OSB
  2. A significantly lighter alternative to wood alternatives
  3. 100% waterproof & weatherproof outer covering
  4. thermally efficient board that promises results

The LEKA external boards are then covered with breathable membrane to add an additional weather proofing option.

Step 5 – Tiling

After a high-grade breathable membrane is fitted, carrying through into the gutter system, a premium Slate or Metal roof tile system is added.

Both Tapco, Britmet and Metrotile offer a classic roof finished tile dependant on your property and required cosmetic look.

These lightweight alternatives to concrete tiles or slate really do make the LEKA systems overall finish stand out as much as the main structures attributes do.
